The new South African flag symbolized the hope of democracy being the tissue that wiped away the tears Alon Paton’s “Beloved Country” cried for so many years under Colonialism and Apartheid.

The idea was simply to stitch together the old South African flag with the new South African flag and photograph / film it.

The book cover made it to South Africa’s Highest Court
Afriforums legal council referenced the concept of the book cover to make a point at the nationally televised appeal case against the ruling made by the Equality Court to ban the 1928 flag.
