Life’s Little Lessons Academy.

A 20 episode branded audio show for PPS, that helps young professionals avoid the comical advice they receive (as it relates to short term insurance, life cover, medical aid, savings & Investments) by highlighting and contrasting just how laughable, the tips and tricks they employ to avoid having to take out a policy in an effort to save money, actually are.

I creative directed the entire campaign; which includes the illustration, animation and sound design. I scripted, storyboarded and directed the video promo. I wrote the podcast scripts, radio scripts, one-pagers and I played the voice of Popayi Papi. Shout out to Chisanga Mubanga for the Comms Strategy, Reatile Mosoeu for sound design, video editing and sound editing. Special thanks to Nyaki Tshabangu on Production, Jarryd Du Thoit on the Grading and Mpumelelo Bhengu on Illustration.

Video Promo

This is a story about the “clever” voice inside a smart young man’s head that gives him “smart” advice. It’s his own inner voice personified and brought to life as a “know it all” character named Popayi Papi.

The word Popayi is South African colloquial slang for cartoons but it is most commonly used to describe comical, silly things, choices and people. The word is derived from the cartoon character Popeye.

Radio Promo’s

30 second radio spots (which also became audiograms for social media promotion purposes; in 9:16 and 1:1 aspect ratio) the aim, of these promotional spots, is purely to drive awareness whilst giving the listener a taste of what is to come

One-Pagers

Three supporting characters were developed to aid Popayi Papi but also to reflect the kinds of cartoon-like cost-cutting measures that students and young graduates have when avoiding having to pay insurance premiums.
